CD Projekt was facing legal action from shareholders who claimed they had been misled
Cyberpunk 2077 didn’t go well is true, but that CD Projekt is still trying to solve the problems it caused them is even more true. Not only has the controversial release forced them to deal with a drop in popularity or financial losses, but they were also facing several lawsuits from investors.
As we reported, the Polish company had managed to stall the lawsuit and start negotiating with shareholders. This group alleged that they had been misled, violating US federal laws by not informing them correctly about the project, causing damages to their interests. And now we have news about the process.
As the company itself reports in a document, after negotiations, they have agreed to create a compensation fund of 1,850,000 dollars to be awarded to the affected plaintiffs. With it, they will “waive any and all claims against the company and its board members”.
So it looks like the meetings have come to fruition, with CD Projekt dodging a much more damaging bullet. However, the out-of-court settlement has yet to be ratified by the court, which must be submitted by mid-January next year.
The Poles thus maintain their stability, which had been questioned on more than one occasion and which they themselves have had to reaffirm. Meanwhile, in terms of video games, they are preparing the next-generation update of Cyberpunk 2077, which is scheduled to arrive in the first half of 2022. Read our review of the game here.
