No Time To Die director Cary Fukunaga has shed some more light on the fate of Daniel Craig’s James Bond after the final moments

The latest instalment of the blockbuster franchise finally opened in cinemas earlier this year, after a series of lengthy delays. Daniel, who has played 007 for 15 years, previously announced the film would be his last as the super spy, with speculation over who might replace him.

He went out with a bang when his character was killed by an MI6 missile strike just before the end credits rolled, and then a message appeared announcing that we would soon get a new film.

However, for those fans still wondering if there was even the slightest chance of Craig’s Bond surviving the blast since we didn’t technically see him die, the filmmaker in charge has some bad news for you.

​“I wasn’t trying to be obtuse with it. I wanted to be clear with it. But I wanted it to be tasteful. We didn’t want that shot in Terminator 2 where you see Sarah Connor turning into bones. But we wanted to show that he wasn’t going to jump down a sewer at the last second. So that wider shot of the island being pummelled was a mixture of macro and micro. The full effect is, ‘Yes, he’s gone, but he succeeded in making sure none of that weapons would go on into the future.’

With No Time To Die finally getting the theatrical release we’ve all been waiting for, there’s obviously been talk about who might don the famous dinner jacket next.

Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson confessed that they have no idea how the newcomer will be written into the script following that ending. During an appearance on Deadline’s Contenders Film: New York, Barbara said: ‘We’ll figure it out, but he’ll be back,’ Barbara announced. Read our review of the film here.
