Paul Rustchynsky is working on an unannounced project under the umbrella of Avalanche Studios
PlayStation 4 owners from the first months of its launch will remember DriveClub, a racing game halfway between arcade driving and simulation that brought a very good graphical performance to Sony’s hardware and was one of the console’s first great exclusives.
Its director at the time, Paul Rustchynsky, was a member of Evolution Studios and was also involved in other well-known racing series, such as the Motorstorm games or the abandoned Onrush. He is currently working on a new team in Liverpool for Avalanche Studios and has taken advantage of the start of a new year to announce on Twitter that he is working on a new video game.
“In 2021, we open a new studio in Liverpool, a very exciting time for me to achieve one of my career goals. In 2022 we will announce the game we’ve been working on for the past year,” says the first tweet, which he then went on to clarify by saying that it won’t be a sequel to any of the franchises he’s worked on before, but something very different to what he’s done before, not even a racing game.
We’ll have to wait and see what Rustchynsky and his new team have in store for us in the coming months. We don’t know if it’s an already known IP from Avalanche, which in recent years has released Just Cause 4 and RAGE 2 and is currently immersed in the development of Contraband for PC and Xbox, or which we still know almost nothing except the brief teaser of its announcement and which has no specific release window set.
