Bethesda Game Studios Treats Starfield As Revolutionary

Bethesda Game Studios’ (BGS) lead designer says there will be so much new in Todd Howard’s next game that we won’t believe it.

Emil Pagliarulo is a BGS veteran, as he’s worked on a long list of titles, including The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Fallout 3, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout 4, and Fallout 76. The team just interviewed him, and he’s added fuel to the hype fire with what he had to say.

According to him, “Saying you’re going to create the studio’s first new IP in twenty years is one thing. Pulling that off, that’s a different story. It’s been so awe-inspiring watching Starfield morph into this amazing game, little by little, and with us covering SO much new ground. There comes the point when you’re working on a game, and it’s just a mess, especially early on, because – news flash! – that’s what game development is. But then you get to that point where systems start to come online, and things start to work well and gel, and you see everything forming into the vision you had when you first started on this crazy journey. When that first happened with Starfield, it was an, “Oh. Oh wow. Yeah. This is… something exceptional. Players are going to lose their minds.” Now we just have to finish it!”

Starfield is set in 2330 in a relatively small segment of the Milky Way called The Settled Systems. Our character is a member of an organisation called Constellation. It deals with the universe and its mysteries (we are talking about an exploration corps). You can join several factions (Crimson Fleet – the pirates, United Colonies, Freestar Collective, Ryujin Industries…). And Todd Howard has already described the studio’s engine (Creation Engine 2) as the most advanced yet.

Starfield is coming to Xbox Series and PC on November 11. We’ll 100% know more about it at this year’s E3, as it’s one of Microsoft’s big titles for this year…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
