PlayStation Plus games for April will officially launch on the 5th, but subscribers in some regions will be able to play one of the games earlier.
The April 2022 PlayStation Plus line-up includes Hood: Outlaws & Legends, Slay the Spire and SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated. The games were due to be released on 5 April, but subscribers in some regions will have access to one of the games earlier. It appears that PlayStation Plus members in Europe have been given early access to SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated.
As with February, the new games have received a mixed reception, with many users finding the selection lacking, unlike the free offerings in January and March.
Sony announced some fairly significant changes to PlayStation Plus earlier this week. PlayStation Plus will consist of 3 tiers – Essential, Extra and Premium – each offering different benefits from June this year. The Essential tier will be the same as PS Plus in its current form, while the Extra and Premium tiers will give you access to additional PS4 and PS5 games. The Premium tier will also give access to classic PS1, PS2, and PSP titles and allow you to stream PS3 games.
Returning to SpongeBob SquarePants, players with an EU PlayStation Plus account will be able to add the game to their library. However, this only applies to EU accounts; the option to add SpongeBob SquarePants to your library will not appear on the NA and Asia store pages.
The Hood and Slay the Spire store pages have the correct prices, and the games are only available for purchase until 5 April. The other games are also not available with an EU account, so it is suspected that access to SpongeBob SquarePants may be the result of a bug. That said, many fans are probably happy about this opportunity.
PlayStation Plus subscribers should keep in mind that Persona 5 will be out of the PS Plus Collection on 11 May, so interested gamers may want to add it to their library while they have the chance. With the PS Plus Collection, many hoped in vain that Sony would expand the offering, which has been unchanged for over a year.
