Rollerdrome, the third-person action-shooter Rollerdrome unveiled during last week’s State of Play, could be part of the August 2022 PS Plus offering at the new Extra and Premium tiers, if a keen fan’s observation is correct.
The single-player game, developed by Roll7, is published by Private Division and will be released on 16 August for PS5, PS4 and PC.
ResetEra user modiz has noticed that, like Stray, which is also coming to PS Plus Extra/Premium, Rollerdrome’s PlayStation Store page shows exactly when the game will be available to download. For all other games, the PS Store usually lists a general midnight launch (EST time). Both Stray and Rollerdrome are listed as 11am and 12pm EST respectively, and both games will be released on the third Tuesday of their respective release months. Reddit user AngieK22 further pointed out that neither Stray nor Rollerdrome are available for pre-order.
While this is all speculation and should be treated with caution, the above observations do not appear to be mere coincidence. Although Sony is against launching day one AAA games on PS Plus, the company has said it will work with partners to bring new games to the service. Stray and Rollerdrome both seem to be suitable for this purpose.
In case you missed it, you can watch the announcement trailer for Rollerdrome bellow. According to the official synopsis:
„The year is 2030. In a world where corporations rule and the boundaries between reality and performance are blurred, audiences are riveted by the violence and excesses of a brutal new blood sport – Rollerdrome. Do you have what it takes to be the champion of Rollerdrome and unravel the mystery of the Matterhorn Corporation’s true intentions?”
