MOVIE NEWS – Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor star Cal Kestis is rumoured to be getting his own Disney+ series at some point.
According to a recent rumour, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor may not be the last time fans get to see Cal Kestis, the hero of the smash hit Jedi: Fallen Order, in action. Following the success of Obi-Wan Kenobi and the previous Disney+ Star Wars series, something rarely seen could happen: a Star Wars character created for a video game would be brought to the cinematic realm!
The Star Wars Jedi series is likely to get a third sequel sooner rather than later, but a new rumour suggests that Cal Kestis will also get his own live-action Disney+ show at some point in the future. That would make sense, given how much Disney wants to leverage its streaming service for popular brands like Marvel and Star Wars.
Kestis looks exactly like Cameron Monaghan, who portrayed him, so it would be easy to adapt.
This rumour comes from YouTuber and Star Wars insider Kristian Harloff, who claims to have heard that Cameron Monaghan has signed on to reprise the role of Cal Kestis in a Disney Plus show. He adds that no filming dates have been revealed yet, but according to a person he has trusted before, it’s happening.
It should be noted that no further confirmation has been presented, so fans should take this rumour with a grain of salt. But given the popularity of The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi and other Disney+ shows, it would make sense that Cameron, who played Cal in the game, would appear in a live-action series. In fact, many people thought that Cal Kestis would have appeared in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and while that didn’t happen, it already shows how receptive fans are to a live-action Cal.
Given Harloff’s comments about production dates, it will probably be a while before this new series is confirmed.
It would likely come out sometime after Star Wars Jedi: Survivor at the earliest, which is rumoured to be released early next year. So fans would be wise to treat this rumour with caution for now, just in case something happens before then or if the story turns out to be false.
Either way, Cal Kestis’ future looks bright for fans, if bleak for himself. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor boasts darker themes than Jedi: Fallen Order, and it will be interesting to learn more about the game. The Empire seems more potent than ever, Cal seems more lost than ever, and there are many questions about who is in the bacta tank in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be released in 2023 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X.
