NPD just released their console sales rank for last month, and the PlayStation 4 has once again emerged as the top selling console, outselling its rival, the Xbox One. The PS4 has outsold the Xbox One in all but one month since both consoles launched last Fall.
This marks the 5th straight month of the PlayStation 4 being on top. However, the PS4 will get some serious competition this month, as the Xbox One was lowered in price to $399 with the Kinect-less version hitting the stores last week.
According to NPD, overall hardware sales were up an impressive 95 percent to $187 million in North America, while software sales jumped 57 percent to $274 million. The best-selling game of last month was Watch Dogs, which doesn’t come as a huge surprise. Nintendo’s Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U was the second bestselling game — the highest a Wii U game has reached on the list since the console was released.
