TECH NEWS – A bug in iOS 17 freezes your iPhone and doesn’t register touch input at all. Fortunately, there’s a workaround…

Apple released iOS 17 for all compatible iPhone models in September, a week after the announcement of the iPhone 15 lineup. The platform was initially riddled with bugs, from connectivity and UI hangs to overheating issues on the latest iPhone 15 Pro models. Nearly two months later, the company released various updates to fix the aforementioned issues. Now it has been revealed that a strange bug in iOS 17 makes the screen completely unresponsive. However, there is a simple workaround to solve the problem.

The iPhone 15 Pro is a significant improvement over the previous generation iPhone 14 Pro. However, the overheating problem took away much of the initial hype. It was claimed that iPhone 15 Pro models were overheating due to the iPhone’s new titanium coating. One YouTuber also pointed out that the titanium had nothing to do with the problem and that Instagram was the culprit. Apple took note and issued a statement suggesting that a bug in iOS 17 caused the new iPhone 15 Pro models to overheat.

Apple has released iOS 17.0.3 with a fix for the overheating issue and the whole fiasco is over. There are still some bugs in iOS 17 that need to be fixed. A strange bug in iOS 17.1.1 causes iPhone models to freeze completely. The iPhone does not register touch input, and pressing the volume and power buttons has no effect.

Note that the bug is hiding in the app library section of iOS 17. For more details, watch a video from an X user. We have tested the bug ourselves and it seems to affect a wide range of models. During our testing, iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 Pro Max devices were frozen. According to the user, the bug is part of iOS 17.1.1 and affects the new iPhone 15 models.

If anyone is unfamiliar, the bug does not affect users independently as it must be initiated from the app library itself. However, anyone with access to your phone can trigger it, rendering the device unusable. If you have also fallen victim, you can use the volume down and power buttons to force your iPhone to reset. All you need to do is press and release the Volume Up button, then quickly press and release the Volume Down button and hold the Power button until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

The strange bug that freezes the screen was tested on iPhone models running iOS 17.1.1. Apple will potentially fix the problem in the upcoming iOS 17.2 update, which is currently resting in beta.
