Although we are mainly informing you about happenings around PlayStation, we think that we have to talk about this topic, as without Nintendo, Sony would have never entered the console market two decades ago.

Satoru Iwata, the fourth Nintendo president (and the first one not coming from the Yamauchi family, who created the company back in the 19th century), due to a bile duct growth, has passed away on July 11. Although he worked his way up from the position of a freelance programmer, during his life, he took leadership of his workplace HAL Laboratories, saving it from bankruptcy, and in May 2002, he replaced Hiroshi Yamauchi in the presidential seat at Nintendo. Under Iwata’s leadership, the DS, the Wii, the 3DS and the Wii U all got created, and most definitely, the NX was supervised by him too. As a programmer, he did work on the SNES Earthbound, the GB Kirby’s Dream Land, but he also had a role in the second generation Pokémon Gold/Silver games as well.

„On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer.” Satoru Iwata has passed away at the age of 55. May he rest in peace.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
