Lots of Titles of a Well-Known IP Will Soon Leave PlayStation Plus!

The PlayStation Plus game catalog (available to PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers) will say goodbye to more than two dozen games in May, and seven of them are IP-related titles.

According to @Genki_JPN on Twitter and confirmed by VGC, the PlayStation Plus Last Chance to Play list includes no less than SEVEN games related to the Final Fantasy franchise. This means that the Square Enix IP will soon be leaving the game catalog, so they will only be available for purchase after the moment of departure, so a PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium subscription will not be enough. The seven Final Fantasy games are Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy X/X2 HD Remaster, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition, and World of Final Fantasy.

These games will say goodbye to Sony in May. Other departing games include Last Stop, The Messenger, My Friend Pedro, I Am Dead, Absolver and The Artful Escape. But why can’t Sony just announce the games that are leaving directly on the PlayStation Blog? Why go to all this trouble? We’re not talking about sales figures (there’s no word on the performance of the PlayStation VR2, for example).

The PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium line-up was recently updated with April’s additions, including Dave the Diver, The Crew 2, Deliver Us Mars and Lego Marvel’s Avengers, to name a few. The PlayStation Plus Classics catalog, available only to PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers, has been updated with Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Star Wars Rebel Assault 2 and MediEvil.

So if you love Final Fantasy, you’ve got a month to catch up with these games. But will that be enough time to finish them all?
