Sony is already working on the 2.57 PlayStation firmware, but do not expect anything extraordinary: it’s only going to improve stability for some features (this wasn’t detailed, so no idea on what features they meant here), so don’t expect big updates or new applications after installing the firmware. It’s coming soon, the release date wasn’t announced.
The question is, when will Sony try to apply new, awaited features to the PlayStation 4? There are quite a few things that PS4-owners would probably enjoy using on the console.
First off, how about supporting external hard drives? Nowadays, it’d be a good idea to unplug the hard drive and just carry it with us without disassembling the console. Also, the backwards compatibility is being brought up often – sure, there’s PlayStation Now, but aside that, it’s really difficult to get certain games to play on the PlayStation 4, while the Xbox One is going to apply backwards compatibility from the holidays season. Taking control of the game by your friends, while say, you have to take a toilet break? That would also be a good idea…
