Ubisoft doesn’t want the original Beyond Good & Evil to be legally available (otherwise it’s preserved, let’s leave it at that), because it will be replaced by the new edition.

But it’s also gone from the Xbox store, so it’s only a matter of time before the 2003 action-adventure, whose sequel can now be called vaporware, is also gone from CD Projekt’s DRM-free gaming platform.Ubisoft said that this sequel would be a big AAAA game that the community could contribute to with their music (what happened to that?), but the French publisher refuses to announce that the project is finished.

Ubisoft is expected to announce more details about Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition later today, which will be revealed during the Limited Run Games broadcast.This will start at 11 AM Pacific, so it’s likely that the game will be discussed again in tomorrow’s news.The Anniversary Edition was leaked by Ubisoft itself when an early version of the game was available to some players due to an error, and then in November the Yves Guillemot-led company said that the then unannounced game would be released for undisclosed platforms in early 2024.

Beyond Good & Evil 2’s release is about as likely as us winning the lottery, as the project was also hampered by the death of creative director Emile Morel last year. So it’s unlikely to be completed.
