BioShock 4 is in Full Development; Many Job Offers still Open

It’s been four and a half years (!) since 2K (Take-Two) announced that a new studio, Cloud Chamber, was working on the new BioShock, but one of the franchise’s core developers, Ken Levine, has nothing to do with it…

Since the announcement, Cloud Chamber has been silent and we haven’t heard much new information about BioShock 4, but now an employee of the studio has told LinkedIn that there are now many open positions at the studio, and you don’t have to work in the office there. Cloud Chamber is working on a “really awesome project” (that must mean the new BioShock) and also encourages remote working, which is good for everyone (except the idiotic management, who exercises their power in person).

These positions are open: Senior AI Animator x2, Senior Character Artist, Senior Cinematic Lighting Artist, Senior Cinematic VFX Artist, Senior Lighting Artist x2, Senior Materials Artist x2, Senior Modeler (Organic), Technical Materials Artist x2, Lead Rendering Engineer, Lead Rendering Programmer, Tools Support Specialist x2, Co-Development Lead Level Designer x2, Level Designer, Narrative Designer, Senior Combat Designer x2, Senior Level Designer, Technical Designer, Executive Producer, Producer x2, Senior Producer (Animation), Senior Writer.

It’s common for people to be hired for bigger roles later on in a project, but with so many job openings, the rumor from last May is likely true, as we heard then that BioShock 4 was being rebooted for summer 2022, which then led to a delay, so there’s no way the game will be released this year, or even next year. (We’ve seen longer development times than that, though: Dead Island 2 is a good example…)

BioShock is being made into a Netflix movie, directed by Francis Lawrence. Meanwhile, Levine can laugh because his game Judas is much closer to release (although we don’t know the release date for that one yet either).
