Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP: Our Protagonist will have Multiple Voices

Dragami Games has confirmed that players will have four options in the remastered edition of the 2012 hack’n’slash game.

The modern Lollipop Chainsaw will hit stores in a somewhat chaotic way, as it was announced two years ago, but not as a remaster, but as a remake. The project was then scaled back to a remaster only, with Dragami Games president Yoshimi Yasuda explaining that they wanted to preserve the nature of the original developers, Grasshopper Manufacture.

When Chainsaw Hacking was released in the West twelve years ago, Juliet was only in English, but the remaster will change that. As a result, Juliet Starling will be able to speak in multiple voices. Of course, there will be the original option, Tara Strong, but she will also be joined by three Japanese voices. Eri Kitamura and Yoko Hikasa will be joined by a new voice, as Tamura Yukari will also be voicing the character. She dubbed Tento in Naruto and Qiqi in Genshin Impact, among others. But why two old Japanese voice actors? There is an explanation: Kitamura was previously heard on the Xbox 360 version in the Asian island nation, and Hikasa voiced Juliet on the PlayStation 3. While we don’t know if Kitamura and Hikasa’s voices were re-dubbed, it’s likely that the archive dub was transferred intact.

In the remaster, we’ll get shorter load times (understandable, since the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 didn’t have NVMe SSDs), but we’ll also have fine-tuned combat mechanics and even change the original violence to have a comic book-style “censorship” (pop art). There will also be 30 costumes so that Juliet can wear more costumes than in the original game. There will also be four new chainsaws and hair colors.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is scheduled for release on September 25, 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, and Nintendo Switch… unless it’s delayed again.
