Sandman Author Neil Gaiman Faces Additional Allegations of Sexual Misconduct

MOVIE NEWS – Renowned author Neil Gaiman, famous for The Sandman comics and beloved movies and shows like Coraline and Good Omens, is confronting new allegations of sexual misconduct. Two more women have come forward in a recent episode of Tortoise Media’s “Master: the allegations against Neil Gaiman,” with one claim dating back to 1986. These new accusers join three others who spoke out in July against the co-creator of The Sandman.

Caroline Wallner, who rented Gaiman’s Woodstock, New York property from 2014 to 2021, alleges that after her divorce, Gaiman coerced her into a sexual relationship, threatening to evict her and her daughters if she refused. Wallner claims Gaiman demanded she refer to him as “master” during their intimate encounters.

Wallner states that after Gaiman relocated, she was evicted by his business manager for not responding to Gaiman’s explicit photos and video calls. She later received a $275,000 settlement and signed a non-disclosure agreement.

Julia Hobsbwam, another recent accuser, claims that in 1986, when she was 22 and Gaiman was 25, he made unwanted advances, forcefully kissed her, and pushed her onto a sofa. She managed to escape. Gaiman’s representatives continue to deny all allegations, asserting that his relationship with Wallner was consensual and that he ceased pursuing Hobsbwam once he realized she was not interested.

Previous Allegations Against Neil Gaiman

Wallner and Hobsbwam’s accusations add to those made by three women in July. One woman, who was Gaiman’s children’s nanny in 2022, alleges that Gaiman assaulted her within hours of their first meeting, engaging in non-consensual acts over three weeks. Another woman met Gaiman at a 2003 book signing in Florida, and by the time she was 20, they had a relationship involving painful and unwanted intercourse.

In less than a month after Wallner and Hobsbwam’s stories went public, another woman, using the pseudonym Claire, appeared on the podcast “Am I Broken: Survivor Stories,” sharing her account of being groomed and manipulated by Gaiman. She described unwanted sexual advances and inappropriate behavior during Skype calls. Claire stated that after refusing to sleep with Gaiman, he ceased communication. She later wrote him a letter expressing her feelings, to which Gaiman responded by attributing his actions to misunderstandings due to his autism.

No legal actions have been taken against Gaiman to date, but the possibility of future allegations or legal proceedings remains.
