Fresh Rumours of Xbox Series X Successor – Could the Handheld Be a Separate Device?! [VIDEO]

TECH NEWS – Interesting news has been quietly leaked regarding the successor to the Xbox Series X and the Xbox handheld console…

It’s always exciting news when information drops about a new generation console. Especially if it’s not one but two consoles, as a recent Xbox rumour claims. The Xbox Series X/S was released in November 2020, so it’s not even four years old. But that didn’t stop rumours of its successor already circulating – be it a next-gen console or a mid-gen update.

Based on previous console releases, the difference between Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S was seven years. The original Xbox and the Xbox 360 were only four years apart, not including mid-gen updates.

So, it’s no surprise that Microsoft is already working hard on its next successor.

However, according to Windows Central journalist and Xbox Two podcast host Jez Corden, there is currently a handheld Xbox console in development that is intended as a sort of add-on to the Series X successor. So, the Xbox handheld will be a separate device, an add-on to the Series X successor, rather than a hybrid device.

In addition, Corden guesses that the arrival of the two new Xbox consoles can start together with Microsoft’s plans to “end the paywall for premium multiplayer games”. According to him, this means that we will not have to pay an online subscription for full-price multiplayer games. Similar to free-to-play titles like Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone.

Of course, this is just speculation for now. However, it is unsurprising that Microsoft is already working on the following consoles. Regardless, if Microsoft does remove the requirement to pay for multiplayer access for premium games, it would be a huge step.

It’s worth watching the video below because many exciting things were discussed during the podcast. And if we hear any further developments regarding today’s story, whether it’s a next-gen console, a handheld, or the end of paid multiplayer games, we’ll let our readers know.
