PlayStation Plus doesn’t have any particularly strong games on any tier at the moment, but in the interests of fairness, it’s worth taking a look at what mid- and top-tier players will soon have access to.
As always, Sony has summarized what’s coming up on the PlayStation Blog. These games will be added to the PlayStation Plus game catalog (for Extra and Premium subscribers): Cult of the Lamb (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker (PlayStation 4), Ride 5 (PlayStation 5), Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris (PlayStation 4), Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization (PlayStation 4), Sword Art Online: Last Recollection (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), Watch Dogs 2 (PlayStation 4), Wild Hearts Standard Edition (PlayStation 5), and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4). Vacation Simulator (PlayStation VR2, PlayStation VR) will also be added to the PlayStation VR2 catalog.
The Classics Catalog (PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers only) will feature additional games. There will be three games originally released for PS2: TimeSplitters (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), TimeSplitters 2 (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), TimeSplitters: Future Perfect (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4). Finally, there’s one more PlayStation 4 game, Sword Art Online: Lost Song, and this game is streaming only, so you can’t download and play it locally…
And that’s the list. Sword Art Online and TimeSplitters are the two franchises Sony has delved deeper into, but of course you need the more expensive subscription to play the older games. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been out for almost ten years now, and while it’s true that the current-gen update is younger than that, it’s also a game that almost everyone has had a chance to try, as we’ve had the chance to buy CD Projekt RED’s game on the cheap more than once in that time.
PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers will have access to these games from August 20th.
