“Big in Japan”: 1 million de PlayStation 4 sold in country

Sony has revealed that the PlayStation 4 has finally sold over 1 million units in Japan, almost 11 months after it was released in the country. The PlayStation 4 has been striving in Japan, and missed the excitement that PS3 and PS2 had back in early 2000.

While Japan is Sony’s home country, still the PlayStation 4 made it much better elsewhere. It has sold over a million units in Germany, France, the UK, and of course, the US.

There were a lot of gossips about PlayStation 4 reaching the million units sales in the country lately, but the official announcement of Sony were still missing. Well, they have now, proving that the console has indeed sold over a million units after a successful holiday season in Japan.

Earlier this week, Sony revealed that global PlayStation 4 sales have topped 18.5 million over the whole world. The console saw a huge boost during the holiday season, where it sold over 4.1 million units.

Last December, PlayStation 4 sales have actually tripled in Japan for one week thanks to Grand Theft Auto 5, and a week later, the new silver PlayStation 4 gave sales an additional boost — the silver PS4 console sold 38,000 units during its first week in Japan.

While the PlayStation 4 sold over a million units in Japan, last week it was still outsold by the Wii U, which has been struggling worldwide.
