Call of Duty: AW Ascendance DLC – Weapons and zombies…

PREVIEW – Soon the newest DLC for Cod:AW will be released for the PS4 and PS3 the  which is Ascendance. The DLC will be released at the end of april, will continue the Exo Zombies story, add four new living maps, and two new weapons. Let’s see what we have here.

Who would have thought that after the first COD back in 2003 the little WW2 FPS would become such a legend. Activision’s shooter started a story 12 years ago, and went all the way to 2060. The basic story is known by everyone by heart. 2060, Jack Mitchell, North Korea, Seoul, Kevin Spacey, KVA etc etc. Sadly the DLC does not add any extra to the main campaign so we can just move on with that.

Exozombies

The story of the Exozombie campaign starts where it was left off previously. After chaos ensued, the four survivors were saved from the headquarters of the wrecked Atlas building. Were able to get better in a medical facility near a Burger Town restaurant. However not much rest can be had, as our heroes still have to face the zombie filled world. The DLC will take place near Burger Town, smaller maps, but with more types of zombies, such as the large hulk with a shield, and the Goliath that has a minigun on his shoulder.

Midfielders

Besides the zombie party there are three medium sized, and one larger sized map in the new DLC. These are the following: Perplex which is a map where the shipping containers are constantly moved around, so this forces the player to switch their cover and strategy. Climate which is a more tropical level, with a broken water filtration system, that creates the water hazardous from time to time.

Then we get Site 244 which is near the foot of Mount Rushmore, where players can shoot each other in a crashed spaceship. The map has spores that can be broken to max out the equipment and perks of our exosuit. Then there’s Chop Shop, that takes place in the black market of Exosuits, where players have the option to use microwave beam weapons.

Puf-puf

We get two new weapons and an equipment. One of the weapons is called OHM which is a combination of a machinegun and a shotgun that can shoot through thin walls. The other weapon is the OHM-Werewolf, which is a heavy gun that can level the playing field against multiple enemies. We also get the Grappling Hook for easier traversal.

Finally

Since the greens cried another timed exclusivity they have been playing the DLC since the 31st of March, and we got it by the end of the month. Cute try, but there is not a Sony fan that would switch just for a month’s advantage for a DLC. Plus I don’t believe that Call of Duty can bring anything new to the table (Zombies all over the place).

It’s a really annoying trend where every game has to have a zombie mode (Red Dead Redemption, CoD, Nazi Zombie Army). I know that these modes can be exciting but the constant undead have been beaten to dead too many times.

These can make the game a success:

+ Fast paced gameplay
+ New maps
+ Exo Zombies Part 2

These can make the game disappointing:

– Too much zombies
– Star Wars, is that you ?
– Chaotic gameplay
