SPOTIFY – Enjoyable, harmonic melodies and beats which can move your body anytime are inside in this release from 2014. Queen of the Clouds is the first studio album of Tove Lo, in civil Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson. She was born in Stockholm where she studied, and graduated from Rytmus Musiker Gymnasiet.

 

In 2006 Lo formed a rock-band namely Tremblebee, and that was the time when she started her songwriter career. In turn she released her debut studio album Queen of the Clouds in last year. Let’s take a look on this release now.

Sex’On

The first songs of the Queen of the clouds are about sex (what a surprise!). Not unlike Britney, Tove Lo loves to sing about erotic, sex, ex-boyfriends and her adventures. This “episode” is really fun and funky – until you reach the third or fourth track, which will bore you to death. The only redeeming aspect is the “sex” part of this release for tune yourself for a party. Funky beats will make you dance anytime whenever you drink a liter of coffee and turn on your media-player and click on play button.

 

Low-Love

The second part of the third release of Tove Lo is “Love”. Slowest beats, “heart-touching” lyrics and soft melodies will welcome you when you reach this “episode” of the album. Elsa voice is wonderful when she tries to sing about her first (and also the latest) love, her pain and pleasure. This part contains real emotions with good performance and she’s also pretty believable.

Average (but pretty) singer, excellent (but not pretty) musicians

When new stars are rising to the sky the audience can easily forget the team which works alongside them to provide amazing sounds and the best instrumentation possible. In many instances, the sound engineers work more, harder and also better than the singer. In this release the musician deserve a lot more credit, than our pretty little singer.

Far from the stars…

Let’s be honest: Tove Lo is a producer made singer, who can’t give you anything what you can’t get from another, more successful singer around the world. There’s no innovation in Elsa, she’s not a prominent talent, she just a girl with passable voice and also with a very good team behind her.

In fact Queen of the Clouds is a really boring release from Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson. Sometimes funky, sometimes slow like a turtle, you’ll fall asleep fast listening to this album. If that was the goal of the artist: good job! Seriously: it’s hard to recommend Queen of the Clouds to anyone, who likes innovative music. On the other hand pop music fans may apply.
