In September 2013, Grand Theft Auto V was released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 – just two months before the release of the current generation consoles, so it’s no surprise that Rockstar‘s game got ported to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and eventually, to the PC as well. It was a long awaited game, and it really turned out to be a successful title in the progress, as it got a very remarkable result.
Take-Two Interactive has announced that Grand Theft Auto V shipped 54 million copies (on five platforms, but still), which makes the game the fourth best-selling game. Not of this year, or this decade, but of all time. All three versions have received stunning reviews, so the game is really one of the best ones out there at the moment. The game’s fourth place put it between Minecraft in third and the 1985 classic NES game, Super Mario Bros.
The publisher also announced a 142 percent revenue increase: from 151.6 million dollars to 366.4 million this year, but what about the profit? Last year resulted in a 11.2 million dollar LOSS, which turned around to a 34.2 million dollar profit this year! Great job.
