AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE: Is China Getting Another Affordable Card?

TECH NEWS – This could be one of those cards you’ll find on Aliexpress, and probably at a really good price…

Recently we’ve heard that AMD might postpone the release of the Radeon RX 9070 GRE to the fourth quarter (October-December). Now we’re seeing the opposite, as AMD itself has confirmed the release date for the graphics card, and major Chinese retailers have already made the GPU available for pre-order for the Chinese market with a delivery date of May 8th. JD.com is a major Chinese retailer, and they are listing the Asus Radeon RX 9070 GRE ATS OC model, which features a unique three-fan dual-slot cooler.

The card requires two 8-pin power connectors, 750W power supply, while the TBP can be 220W. 12GB of VRAM is mentioned on the box, and the Radeon RX 9070 GRE’s release is also marked by official AMD marketing, further confirming that we’re getting closer to a release date. According to the official specs shared, it will feature the same Navi 48 GPU that the other graphics cards in the RX 9070 series use, but will be a slightly back-converted GPU to make it more cost effective. As previously rumored, the card will have a total of 3072 cores clocked at up to 2790MHz and will be capable of 18Gbps on a 192-bit bus interface, which translates to 432GB/s of bandwidth. In any case, the 12 GB of VRAM puts it in a better position than many RTX 5000 cards (5060/5060 Ti 8 GB/5050…).

According to the retail list, this particular model of the Radeon RX 9070 GRE will be priced at RMB 4500 ($617), and will be available for RMB 4476 as a pre-order discount. Several other models can be found for around RMB 4200 ($576). Keep in mind that this price includes 13% VAT in China. Considering that the GRE models are more or less available at MSRP, this is probably what AMD’s card will be available for.
