Hajime Tabata, the director of Final Fantasy XV (formerly known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII for several years) said that the game is currently at seventy percentage completion. That means they have roughly a year until the Fall 2016 release to finish the game up (and localize it, because it’s nowadays impossible to not make an English version of a Final Fantasy game). However, remember when Versus XIII was announced? 2006, so nine whole years ago…
Last September, Tabata called Final Fantasy XV as a halfway complete game, then 60% done earlier in 2015, so they are getting there, but we are worried about the tempo. According to Tabata, the game is going so slowly because this is the first time when a Final Fantasy game will receive a simultaenous worldwide release. Remember, FF VII was released in the end January 1997, while the American date was in September 1997, a whole 7 months later!
We admit that localization takes time (after all, this is a huge JPRG we’re talking about…), so if the English version won’t have typos and translation errors, then they should take their time. We already waited for nine years, so it’s not a hard thing, isn’t it?
By the way, Square Enix actually apologized for the excessive communication about the game…
