Deep Down: Capcom’s race against time

Do you remember Deep Down? This Capcom project was unveiled at the PlayStation 4 reveal event almost three years ago. Deep Down was supposed to be the first game to use the Panta Rhei game engine. What happened to this title since then?

Capcom was silent about Deep Down during 2015. They showed a few images at the end of 2014 and then they started to focus more on Street Fighter V. The Japanese firm extended the trademark for the fourth time at the USPTO. Some legal mumbo-jumbo: the extension limit is five and one extension is for six months. That means the trademark will expire in February 2017.

So unless Capcom starts to focus on Deep Down after launching Street Fighter V, they will lose the trademark. These extensions usually mean the company has plans with the name. At this rate, Deep Down is going to be Capcom‘s The Last Guardian!

Capcom has expanded the game since the initial reveal, but it’s still a question if it’s going to be finished within a year. The clock is ticking…

She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
