MOVIE NEWS – Since sometimes ago, we’ve already witnessed some footage with Chadwick Boseman playing Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War, but we still haven’t heard this famous Marvel character speak quite yet. Lucky for us, Marvel has shown a new TV spot that features T’challa expressing himself for the first time, even though he only utters out one word: “Captain,” before facing Steve Rogers aka Captain America (Chris Evans) himself. Back in February, Chadwick Boseman presented some insight into his work of getting the appropriate voice for Black Panther.
“”The idea of Wakanda is sort of, what if Timbuktu hasn’t been conquered? I listened to people and picked what sounded cool since it’s not a particular place. It’s in the southern, central part of Africa. The attitude, the musicality, as is my preference of the character. It has to fit his dignity.”
In Captain America: Civil War, Steve Rogers commands a recently grown team of Avengers in their perpetual endeavors to safeguard humanity in, which is set in the aftermath of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Still, a serious incident happens which involves the Avengers and which outcomes in collateral damage. Due to political pressure, a new system of accountability installed, headed by a governing body to supervise and direct the team. The new status quo breaks the Avengers team in two factions, one led by Steve Rogers and his aspiration for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government meddling, and the other following Tony Stark’s shocking decision to back up government oversight and responsibility.
So this adventure tears the Marvel universe apart, with heroes joining forces with either Captain America or Iron Man. The team of Iron Man contains Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), Vision (Paul Bettany), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Spider-Man (Tom Holland), and the new character T’challa (Chadwick Boseman). Team Captain embraces Captain America (Chris Evans), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), The Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan). Captain America: Civil War also stars William Hurt as Thaddeus Ross, Daniel Brühl as the villainous Baron Zemo and Frank Grillo as Crossbones.
Captain America: Civil War will also start the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Three, and it will be followed by Doctor Strange (November 4, 2016), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (May 5, 2017), Spider-Man (July 7, 2017), Thor: Ragnarok (November 3, 2017), Black Panther (February 16, 2018), Avengers: Infinity War Part I (May 4, 2018), Ant-Man and the Wasp (July 6, 2018), Captain Marvel (March 8, 2019), Avengers: Infinity War – Part II (May 3, 2019) and Inhumans (July 12, 2019).
