On PAX East, Gearbox officially confirmed that after they finish work on Battleborn and its DLCs, they will start development on Borderlands 3. This was said by Gearbox’s CEO, Randy Pitchford. However, he says that they might not even call the game Borderlands 3 in the end!
Borderlands 3‘s art director will be Scott Kester, who has done the same work for Battleborn as well. The writer is going to be Mikey Neumann, the voice of Scooter. He has been brainstorming a new character, who would be Snooper, Scooter’s son. The new kid would have a seven semitones higher voice than Scooter to make him sound funny – although this isn’t official, it’s just a plan at the moment.
Battleborn will have Borderlands easter eggs; the DLCs will have some relations to Borderlands 3. Pitchford says that „There’s already a lot of Borderlands easter eggs in Battleborn, but they’re all from previous Borderlands games. So what if we put easter eggs for future stuff in the DLC?”
Release date, platforms are not mentioned yet, at least we can now expect them to work on the new memelands game!
