MOVIE NEWS – The work of mourning, the mother-daughter relationship, and the complications of a new love are intertwined in the romantic drama titled Regretting You – Ruined Lives, which will be released in Hungarian cinemas this fall.
The production is based on Colleen Hoover’s bestseller of the same name – filming is still underway – and is presumably a faithful adaptation, as the author is one of the film’s producers. The female lead is Allison Williams, the star of M3GAN, for whose favors the characters of Dave Franco (Day Shift) and Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad) compete.
The story begins with tragedy: a young mother (Williams) is left alone with her teenage daughter (McKenna Grace), who is angry at the world and herself, after the father dies in a car accident. They must figure out how to shape their already complicated relationship from now on, while the widow is once again struck by love–or the possibility of it.
This is not the first time that director Josh Boone has adapted a bestseller; his 23-award-winning The Fault in Our Stars (2014) also weaved together the threads of tragedy and romantic love in the love story of two teenagers with cancer.
