Starbreeze doesn’t want to be decent with gaming, but they also want to take a significant step ahead with virtual reality as well. They have struck a deal with a company to work on their VR headset.
Starbreeze is collaborating with Acer to make a top-notch VR headset called StarVR. It was announced and presented to the people at E3 last year with a The Walking Dead demo. High performance is expected: last year’s prototype had a 5120×1440 resolution with a 210-degree viewing angle. Meanwhile, the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive have a 2160×1200 resolution with an 110-degree viewing angle.
The StarVR has no release date yet, but it’s likely that it will launch after the PlayStation VR that arrives in October. The success of the StarVR also depends on its price: seeing how the Starbreeze–Acer duo has a high-performance headset in development, it might cost one thousand dollars.
