Overwatch’s Success – The Beta Wasn’t A Fluke! An Incredible Amount of Players!

Blizzard‘s FPS had over nine million players during its open beta, and most of them invested in the retail version of the game as well.

Blizzard Entertainment announced that their game, which launched on May 24 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, has now over seven million players with a total of 119 million game hours! Not bad: after the beta, about 3/4 of the players have purchased the full game, while Blizzard started to apply the banhammer against the cheaters.

Blizzard also revealed a few other figures about their successful game: „Since launch, players have swapped heroes 326 million times and teamed up to deliver 11 million payloads to their destinations on the battlefields of tomorrow.”

Overwatch, which has twenty-one playable characters, has short-term success. Blizzard now has to find a way to keep the players come back to their TVs/monitors for a few more matches in the long run.

Congratulations to Blizzard!
