British Telecom Sues Valve!

Gaben and co. faces one of the biggest company of the United Kingdom.

British Telecom sues Valve, claiming that they used BT’s technologies without permission. The company notified Valve multiple times about the infringements, but to no avail.

The four patents concern computer and video game platforms, digital distribution services and personalized access to online services and content.

The case, which was filed in Delaware, is unlikely to end in BT‘s favor. They already lost lawsuits in 2002 and 2011. Fourteen years ago, BT sued US ISP Prodigy, saying it had invented hyperlinks and was owed royalties. Five years ago, they tried suing Google in 2011 over patent infringement, resulting in Google counter-suing two years later.

Seeing BT‘s history with these cases, we can expect them to lose again…
