World Of Warcraft Reaches 10 Million Subscribers… Or Maybe Not!

Since Blizzard stopped publishing official numbers of World of Warcraft subscribers, all we can do is just guess the figures regarding this veteran MMORPG.

They provided the subs’ number last time in November – back then, World of Warcraft had 5.5 million monthly subscribers. However, there’s an interview with a Polish gaming magazine called Pixel with the game’s director, Tom Chilton. It got translated, and in it, he said that they are over ten million subscribers, and despite an internal rival (Overwatch), he believes they can climb back up to twelve million.

After the surfacing of this interview and its translation, Blizzard published a statement, which denies the figure, and says that journalist must have misunderstood something.

The only official number Blizzard published since the latest World of Warcraft expansion (Legion) was the amount of copies sold in the first 24 hours: 3.3 million.
