Steam Bans Bullshots For The Sake Of Customers!

Valve applies a rule to Steam to help us, the customers, the players find the right game to play without being fooled.

Polygon learned that the developers received some new directives in a Steamworks post. We quote, „We ask that any images you upload to the ‘screenshot’ section of your store page should be screenshots that show your game. This means avoiding using concept art, pre-rendered cinematic stills, or images that contain awards, marketing copy, or written product descriptions. Please show customers what your game is actually like to play.”

This post means that games, such as No Man’s Sky (which is under investigation for false advertising in the United Kingdom; its Steam page hasn’t updated yet), can’t use images that aren’t from the games themselves. (Valve didn’t exclude themselves from this rule – they cleared up the images of Dota 2.)

Hopefully, we can soon forget the term „bullshot”, which is exactly used for these fake images…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
