Hideo Kojima‘s new game stays within Sony‘s family from a technical aspect.
So far, we didn’t know what engine will Death Stranding use (and regarding this game, even Guillermo del Toro said FUCK KONAMI on Twitter), but during yesterday’s panel, the announcement came: Kojima Productions will use Decima, which will be first used in Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Zero Dawn. (The panel talked about it for roughly half the time…) The Japanese genius can even make an open world game with it if he wants to, but no confirmation whether the game will be in this style or not.
Kojima had no chance to use FOX Engine by Konami (making the crowd go boo for a while), which meant that he had to take a tour around a few developers alongside Mark Cerny.
The video below our article is confirmed to be running on the PlayStation 4 Pro real time, explaining the 4K resolution as well. There will be female characters in Death Stranding, too, so next to Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen (probably the antagonist), and Guillermo del Toro, we’ll see new faces.
The game, which is supposed to launch in 2018, will also get a limited-run vinyl with the E3 trailer‘s music.
