Shigeru Miyamoto believes Nintendo is in a good situation with Epic’s engine.
In a Q&A with investors in Kyoto, he said that the European and North American developers were in an advantage, but the internal Nintendo developers managed to catch up to them with technologies such as the Unreal Engine, making them quite excited to utilize them. (We wonder what first-party Nintendo Switch titles will use UE4: would it be Super Mario Odyssey? The big N has said nothing about that yet.)
Don’t forget the third-party developers: Miyamoto says that a few developers started to work on games for the Switch because of the support of Unreal Engine 4 and Unity.
Nintendo’s producer, Yoshiaki Koizumi says that the big N has found the balance between graphical quality and the new, unique ways to play. He added that while the graphics and the frame rate is important for the immersion, the Switch with the HD Rumble will make players feel a bit of the games they play.
The Switch will launch on March 3 worldwide.
