Without her, a lot of things could have been different in Horizon Zero Dawn.
This time, PlayStation has created a different video, as it has two important developers having a friendly conversation: they are Hermen Hulst from Guerrilla Games and Neil Druckmann from Naughty Dog. Hulst admitted that Ashly Burch, who also played a role in Life is Strange, has been influential in forming Aloy into her final form. John Gonzales, who was the lead writer, and is now the narrative director, has had a good working relationship with her, making the back and forth process fluid and fast.
Behind Aloy‘s looks, Hannah Hoekstra has to be named: she gave her likeness to Aloy, and Guerrilla also used multiple parkour actors whose moves were recorded with mocap technology to make Aloy move as fluid as possible.
Druckmann responded with a friendly challenge set for himself and Naughty Dog: he thinks Horizon Zero Dawn‘s visuals have set a bar for them that they want to jump with The Last of Us Part II. This friendly fight between Sony’s developers is not a bad idea: it makes both parties work hard for a good quality game.
