A Developer Attacks Microsoft For Their Self-Service Refund Program

They didn’t hold any punches back.

A few days ago, we wrote about how Microsoft made the self-service refund service available for a few Insiders on Xbox One and Windows 10. This service was bashed big time by The Chinese Room (Dear Esther, Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs, Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture), who have attacked CD Projekt RED last year for being sexist with Cyberpunk 2077 in their opinion.

We’ll not quote their first tweet, as it is full of British curse words, but the second one needs a mention: „It’s REALLY simple. Refunds should operate off a percentage of game completed. Simple, fair, representative. This 2 hour thing is just c_ck.” (Garry Newman (creator of Garry’s Mod and Rust) had a joking reply to that comment: „My game takes 2 mins to complete. Refunds should only be available if they’ve played less than 6 seconds.”)

„For reference, you can get nearly halfway through Silent Hill in 2 hours. If you need to play 50% of a game to figure out if you like it…”, they added.

We got used to their blunt, albeit honest reactions to a few events, but they do have a point with the two-hour limitation, which is still better than Prey with its ONE hour demo for consoles only…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
