Steam: Strict Rules For Gifts

Gabe Newell and his team close a few doors.

VG247 reports that Valve has tightened the rules around gifting games on Steam. From now on, you can only gift games right after purchasing the game, without the ability to send the game via email to the other person, who is now also required to own a Steam account. You cannot add the game to your inventory to gift it later. As a positive, we need to mention that you can time the gift, and if the other person refuses it for some reason, the game’s price will be refunded to you.

Gifting between countries/regions will still be possible, but if you can’t gift said game to the other person, the option to gift will not be visible on Steam. (Valve could have done that much earlier than now…)

It looks like sites like Steamgifts lose their purpose with Valve‘s new rules…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
