The makers of the Fallout TV series have revealed some details about what Season 2 has in store when new episodes arrive on Prime Video at an as yet unspecified date. The first eight episodes of the series left questions and heated debates in the community. We received a clear answer: the plot is still developing, and all the things that don’t fit together now will fit together sooner or later. It’s time to tell you what showrunners Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet think about the sequel!

SPOILER WARNING regarding certain events of the Fallout TV series and the entire franchise!

The first details about Season 2 of the Fallout TV series

In an interview with GQ magazine, the showrunners first expressed their gratitude for the renewal of the series:

“We’ve always planned to create a project with more than eight episodes, so some half-answered questions will be resolved in the future.”

“One thing I wanted to say in terms of the season one, season two stuff — watching the discourse about Shady Sands, and the NCR — I really want to caution people [that] the story isn’t over yet, and we really bet on that. There’s more to tell,” he said in response to the controversy surrounding Fallout’s story. He also spoke similarly about the idea that Vault-Tec started the war: “Well, we have more story to tell. I would just not treat anything as definitive because, again, everything that we see is very subjective. That scene occurred. But what occurs between then and the actual bombs falling… there’s more exciting stuff planned between that moment and the last moment, I guess I should say.”

Moving on from Season 2 of Fallout, the series’ creators have confirmed (albeit somewhat ironically) that we are going to New Vegas. “It sure would be strange if we went off to New York City after that,” they said, referring to the final scene of the eighth episode. Speaking of which, they also revealed why New Vegas seems to have been razed to the ground.

“All we really want the audience to know is that things have happened, so that there isn’t an expectation that we pick the show up in season two, following one of the myriad canon endings that depend on your choices when you play.”

The showrunners explained the scene accordingly: “We really wanted to imply, Guys, the world has progressed, and the idea that the wasteland stays as it is decade-to-decade is preposterous to us. It’s just a place [of] constant tragedy, events, horrors — there’s a constant churn of trauma. We’re definitely implying more has occurred”. In that sense, it’s not that the ending of Fallout: New Vegas is no longer canon. But about the fact that the state of the city changed due to the events of the last few years of the wasteland. We will certainly find out why in the second season.

There is currently no release date for Season 2 of the Fallout TV series. We know that it will be very difficult to see before the end of 2025. After all, “one season per year” is no longer the norm for big productions. Still, it will be worth the wait. In addition, all signs point to the fact that series adaptations of other video games are also being made or will receive new seasons in the near future…
