Digital Extremes‘ success with Warframe allowed them to work on another game.
Warframe is an okay free-to-play action-RPG. The developers will not go far from the style, as Keystone is going to be a free-to-play FPS with card deck building action. Players will participate in a board game, and they can get rid of enemies with their deck and weapons. Does it sound weird? Absolutely. Is the name familiar? Maybe – someone sneaked into the studio in 2015 (!), when the game was already in development!
Quoting the press release: „With the look and feel of the 1970’s retro-pulp era, Keystone will take players on a journey through a multi-verse that begins on the starting square of an intriguing, mystical board game. Players will wield unique decks of cards throughout the match that offers handy benefits, amazing powers, and fearsome weapons. With timing and resourcefulness, personally customized decks give players the upper hand in battle both individually and when strategically coupled with teammates’ decks.”
The first closed alpha, which you can register for on the game’s website here, will run between May 26 and May 29. More details will be revealed at the E3.
