Assassin’s Creed: Origins: We Know When It Launches!

The July issue of Game Informer managed to leak ahead of time.

Its cover story is going to be this year’s Assassin’s Creed, which has been already in production before Unity released. Instead of using a mini-map, the game has an Elder Scrolls-like compass at the top of the screen. There is no longer a button to sprint because the running speed now depends on the analog stick. Crouching will also return, and you can say goodbye to free running up and down, as its buttons have been removed. You can climb everything in the game. The series’ mainstay Eagle Vision will return via an eagle named Senu. However, it now highlights objects rather than enemies. Puzzles will return with more difficulty and fewer switches.

The game is set during the ascent and reign of Cleopatra. The main character is named Bayek (Ba’Yek?), who will be the founder of the Assassins Brotherhood. There will be another playable character as well. Cities such as Memphis and Alexandria with their landmarks will appear. The NPCs will all follow a day and night cycle in that there are times that they eat, sleep, work, and… visit the toilet.

The combat is free-form (and new), more hit box-driven, and free of counters. The right shoulder and trigger buttons are used to attack, and lock-on is done with the left shoulder button is used to lock-on. A.I. enemies (who got improved) no longer take turns to attack. The game will have a rage meter in the form of an adrenaline gauge, if both attack buttons are pressed, you will have a strong attack. Stronger enemies can no longer be one-hit-killed with the hidden blade, which will need improvements. You can deflect enemy arrows with your shield, those that stick to the shield can be picked up and added to your inventory. You can also poison dead bodies, lure enemies, and tame animals.

There are treasures underwater, as well as lootable legendary items. You can also customize the character’s appearance without it affecting his stats. There’s also a new gear system: players can improve specific parts of gear by crafting materials is in place. Two bows/two Merle weapons can be equipped at once, but you can also fire multiple arrows at once even while riding a camel or horse. The leveling system is capped at level 40. There is also a more in-depth ability graph with three paths (Seer, Warrior, and Hunter). That sounds like Final Fantasy.

The game is out on October 27 (a Friday – sounds reasonable) on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Ubisoft shouldn’t talk much about its game – even the box art seems leaked, although with the old logo.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
