Vivendi: A Big Presence In The Gaming Industry, Even Without Ubisoft?

The French company could leave Ubisoft behind as well to be present in the gaming industry more than before.

Vivendi previously took over Ubisoft’s sister company Gameloft already. Yves Guillemot, the CEO of Ubisoft, doesn’t want a repeat of this event to happen. Gameloft’s chairman and CEO, Stéphane Roussel told La Figaro, a French publication, translated by WCCFTech that while acquiring Ubisoft would be the logical decision, they don’t have a Ubisoft or nothing approach to the situation. (They are close to placing a bid on Ubisoft, though: at 30% shares owned, the law would require them to bid on Guillemot’s company, and they are at about 27%…) Vivendi might drop the Ubisoft bid altogether if it would become too expensive for them to cover, and they could look for other options in the gaming industry to increase their presence in the market.

Remember, Vincent Bolloré was previously behind the creation of one certain company that’s still around nowadays – it is called none other than Activision Blizzard. The history might be repeating itself in the next few years, though.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
