Kim “Kjun” Hyungjun, director of The Sims rival Inzoi, spoke on Discord about how the last two years have put a lot of pressure on him…
Inzoi will soon be released in Early Access (later this month), and it looks like making a life simulation like The Maxis and Electronic Arts franchise hasn’t been easy. Kjun is very grateful to The Sims, and also thanked the Inzoi audience for their support. From his comment, you can tell that the director is getting tense.
“When I look back at myself two years ago, when I first decided to embark on this project, I can’t help but smile, knowing how recklessly brave I was to even think of making a game of this scale. Now I understand why so few companies have attempted to create a life simulation game. The challenge isn’t just additive the more you try to build – it’s exponential. At a certain point, finding bugs in this vast world we’ve created feels like playing tag with invisible ghosts. I have to say it again – The Sims team deserves endless praise for their incredible accomplishments. As a longtime game developer, I can only express my deepest respect and admiration for what they have accomplished in this genre.
If the game is fortunate enough to reach the level of success I hope it will, I’d love to share my untold stories of Kjun and The Sims – the very reason I wanted to create Inzoi in the first place. Early Access marks a new beginning for our team, and as much as I want to appear confident, I won’t lie – I’m incredibly nervous. No matter how hard we try, Inzoi will still be a work in progress at launch. However, as I always say, Inzoi will continue to evolve and improve with your feedback and contributions,” Kjun wrote.
Paradox previously made a similar attempt with Life by You, but it was ultimately canceled by the publisher at the last minute. By comparison, Inzoi is in better shape, by all accounts…
