Take-Two‘s CEO, Strauss Zelnick has covered multiple subjects in the company’s latest financial earnings call.
Regarding AR, augmented reality, Zelnick has a good opinion while also saying that VR, virtual reality, and AR are two different user experiences, as you are not forced to wear glasses or a headset with the latter, plus you are not stuck in one place, which massively reduces discomfort. As a successful AR-example, he brought up Pokémon Go, and Zelnick says there is a lot of potential in the genre.
Take-Two, which doesn’t believe in platform-exclusivity, doesn’t want to say whether Red Dead Redemption 2 will arrive on PC or not, even though franchises like Civilization and XCOM make the PC a big platform for them. Zelnick believes that the new Red Dead and Grand Theft Auto V (whose online component is still booming and is on course for another record year) will not be direct competitors of each other, as the publisher doesn’t consider them as such.
Take-Two is hopeful, and for a good reason, it seems.
