We learned more about the sequel to Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty at EGX 2017.
Lorne Lanning, the father of Oddworld, took roughly forty minutes to talk about Soulstorm, which seems to be a remake of Abe’s Exoddus in a much darker tone than what we have seen in New ‘n’ Tasty. RuptureFarms is gone, Abe started the Mudokon revolt, but new enemies show up – the Soulstorm Brewery continues the suffering of the Mudokons, as seen in the trailer. A few of them die during being experimented, and they were used for the addicted Soulstorm Brew.
Lanning emphasized the darker tone: the visuals will take that turn, and their improvement will allow the characters to get more personality. We will get a new gameplay element as well – Abe will have an inventory to be capable of crafting items. There will be 301 Mudokons to be saved, and you’ll have information on the bottom of the UI to see what they do and if they are in danger or not.
Oddworld: Soulstorm will arrive in 2018 on unspecified platforms.
