An Updated PlayStation VR Model Is Coming Soon!

Sony modified the roughly one-year-old PlayStation VR headset a bit. It also received a new firmware, namely, the 2.90 one!

The CUH-ZVR2 model already has a release date… but only in Japan. There, it will launch on October 14, bundled together with the PlayStation Camera for 44980 JPY, which is roughly 400 US Dollars.

Sony didn’t announce the Western launch dates yet, but they did reveal details in a Q&A blog post on the PlayStation Blog. Quoting the post, „an updated design that enables the stereo headphone cables to be integrated with the VR headset and a slimmer, streamlined connection cable. There’s also an updated Processor Unit that supports HDR pass through, enabling users to enjoy HDR-compatible PS4 content on a TV without having to disconnect the Processor Unit in between the TV and the PS4 system. This function can be used only when the VR headset is turned off.”

At least Sony doesn’t seem to give up on the headset just yet.
