Far Cry 5 has been completed, but there’s still a lot to mention.

A French website, GamerGen, writes that they asked Ubisoft about how the game’s development stands, and they replied with „the game has gone gold,” which means it’s already being manufactured into physical discs. The marketing takes charge now, which explains why this article is about four times longer than it usually is…

PCGamer had a chance to try the game, and after conquering the first outpost in the demo, they got a pop-up message saying that all outposts have silver bars, which will also be hidden throughout Hope County as well. Silver bars, which can be used for prestige weapons, clothing, vehicles, and skins, can be bought from the Store in the pause menu… with real money. Which means the game will have microtransactions instead of loot boxes.

Back to marketing, Ubisoft announced that they made a live action short film called Inside Eden’s Gate, which will be available on Amazon Prime from March 5. It also got a trailer – it will be the first of many below.

„When rumors of a fanatical cult in Hope County, Montana begin to swirl, three vloggers take it upon themselves to investigate what’s going on. As they track down missing locals and probe into other strange events, they eventually encounter Joseph Seed, the leader of The Project of Eden’s Gate cult and the man behind all the unusual activities in Hope County,” Ubisoft says. There’s also a live-action trailer for the game, which we did not talk about before – it’s the second video below.

There’s also a weekly podcast series: Hope County Stories is made by Gamertag Radio, and it provides background information about the story. The first „focus” is on Pastor Jerome Jeffries, one of the leaders of the resistance. Joseph Seed, the antagonist, also gets mentioned. You can find the podcast here.

There are also a ton of videos, including four Cult Vignettes – each short video focuses on the main characters behind Project Eden’s Gate. Quoting each description: „Joseph became the leader of the Project at Eden’s Gate after he heard a Voice whisper to him, telling him that the world was headed for a Great Collapse. The voice gave Joseph a single directive – “Save as many as you can. Whether they want to be saved or not.” „John’s doctrine is “The Power of Yes.” As the reaper for Eden’s Gate, John will use intimidation and even violence to secure resources vital to the Cult’s survival. Anyone who tries to interfere with the cult will face a merciless death. Unless of course, John has another use for them.” „“Preparedness through pain” is Jacob’s mantra. As the Cult’s recruiter and a former Army marksman, big brother Seed’s main duty is protecting the Project at Eden’s Gate.” „Once you fall under Faith’s spell you can’t escape. As Joseph’s voice, Faith acts as a divine instrument of chaos to keep the congregation in a state of bliss.”

There are two gameplay videos to wrap it all up. The first one doesn’t even need any commentary, but the second one does! It features another hirable character named Cheeseburger. He’s… a BEAR. An angry bear, mauling everyone in his way, but always ready for a head rub in peace. (We do need to point out that the petting animation was brought over from Far Cry Primal, though.)

Far Cry 5 will launch on March 27 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
