Dark Souls Remastered: The First Videos And Details [VIDEO]

Another game is getting re-released…

IGN wrote in detail how the Remastered version would be different from the original edition of Dark Souls.

The maximum number of players online has increased from 4 to 6 – to have six players; you’ll need the Dried Finger item. It has been moved from the Painted World of Ariamis level to the Undead Burg merchant to be obtainable earlier in the game. Its original location now has a Twin Humanities item. Password Matchmaking is now available, similar to Dark Souls 3, and global matchmaking can be turned on or off. When a player is summoned in Password Matchmaking the player level will be synced, except those outside of the host’s parameter range.

Healing items will not be available during PvP, except Estus Flasks, whose number has been halved for phantoms to prevent long and drawn out battles. When a player defeats an invading phantom, their Estus Flask is restored. They can also prevent matched Red Phantoms from seeing their “White Sign Soapstone” sign, but they can no longer summon ally phantoms consecutively when in combat with enemy phantoms. In the Arena, 3v3 and 6v6 deathmatch and password matching have been added – the respawn points will be random. There will be dedicated servers, and not peer-to-peer!

Players can select the number of usable items (for example, consumable souls or covenant items) to use instead of one at a time as in the original game. The items will not automatically be registered into an item slot when picked up. When the up or down directional pad button is held down, the first item equipped will be selected.

Some more minor changes: the covenants can be switched at Bonfires, a Bonfire has been added next to Vamos the Blacksmith, button configuration is now available, and the number of languages has been increased to the number found in Dark Souls 3.

Fandom deleted it, but WCCFTech saved that the jumping mechanics got a bit of overhaul, too. You can now jump with the L3 button. Dark Souls Remastered runs decently on PlayStation 4 Pro, and Blighttown won’t have a terrible frame rate, either. The difficulty is not toned down.

Dark Souls Remastered will launch on May 25 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The PC port of Remastered will also get to Steam on this day. Three videos: a PC remastered vs. original comparison, a PlayStation 4 Pro vs. PlayStation comparison, and some PlayStation 4 Pro gameplay.
