Universities look at their future.
The Ashland University in Ohio state has an eSports team that „will be the first known collegiate eSports program” to add Fortnite: Battle Royale to its roster.
„Fortnite appeals to both the core and casual gaming audience. We’re excited to provide this platform for gamers who want to showcase their skills in a more competitive space. Fortnite facilitates an environment that allows players to get creative, innovate and show off their mastery of their skills,” head coach Josh Buchanan said. (He was hired in February.)
The university launched its collegiate eSports program in February, and it could offer up to 4000 dollars of scholarship „based on player skill level and academic requirements.” The other games on their roster: League of Legends, Overwatch: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Rocket League. They will start building the „center” on the lower floor of the library, and it will have 25 gaming stations (PCs with all its peripherals).
