Electronic Arts Silently Acquires Cloud Technology!

Well, the two-letter publisher looks into the future…

Electronic Arts officially announced that they have taken over GameFly’s cloud gaming technology as well as its personnel. The team’s headquarters are in Caesarea, Israel, and now they are a crucial part of EA.

Cloud gaming is an exciting frontier that will help us to give even more players the ability to experience games on any device from anywhere. We’re thrilled to bring this talented team’s expertise into Electronic Arts as we continue to innovate and expand the future of games and play,” Ken Moss, the chief technical officer of Electronic Arts, said.

What does this acquisition mean in general? Electronic Arts could achieve in the next few years (or even by the next console generation, around 2020) that we could play AAA games on our smartphones, as the cloud technology makes such a thing possible. (Resident Evil 7’s Nintendo Switch version, which was announced just the other day, uses the same method…)

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
